Abstract
A reappraisal of Jean-Francois Lyotard's Libidinal Economy. One of Lyotard's keyworks, Libidinal Economy has nevertheless been overlooked by the majority of Lyotard's recent commentators in favour of his later works. This article offers an original appraisal of Libidinal Economy, arguing that it is integral to his overall project of displacing contemporary nihilism. In doing so, it puts forward a novel reading of Lyotard’s account of the libidinal (non) body.
